Find Your Major

Weigh Your Options

As an additional step in making the final decision, we've provided you with a downloadable pros and cons chart. Print and complete the pros/cons chart below and then take it to an appointment with your advisor.

What do I need to get into this major?

Though choosing a major can be a difficult process, by now you should have your choices down to no more than five. To further narrow your field of prospective choices, visit the Web sites of the department to which you'd like to apply.

Here you can find valuable information including degree requirements, pleans of study, and other information regarding getting involved within the department.

What does it mean?

The Middle 50% GPA represents the GPA range of students typically admitted into the major. 25% of students admitted have a lower GPA, so you should not view the lower GPA as a minimum required for acceptance.

The number and credentials of students admitted varies based on space availability and the academic quality of the pool of applicants.

After acceptance into a program, some departments require a minimum GPA for continuation in a program, for acceptance into teacher education programs, or for internship requirements.

Admission to majors may include any or all of the following factors: grade point average, number of credit hours completed, completion of specific courses, program or space availability, quality of the applicant pool, work history, entrance exams, writing samples, or personal interviews.
